Chicago and Nauvoo

I love doing portraits a lot, but honestly, I love taking pictures of other things just as much.  And since I'm not doing in sessions in December, I thought I'd share some of my other photography that I've recently done.
In October, my husband and I had a little get away from the kiddos.  We visited Chicago just for the heck of it.  (Plus we scored a great $99 deal on tickets!)  Above is a picture of the Ferris Wheel on the Navy Pier.  Yes, it is obviously photoshopped.  I love adding textures and playing with coloring on photos like this.  It's not as great on pictures of people, but for things and nature, textures are amazing!

Below is a statue in Chicago that looks like a jelly bean.  It's called "The Cloud" and offers a fun way to get a picture of Chicago's skyline!
This is the Buckingham Fountain at night.
Since we were in Illinois, we rented a car and drove down to Nauvoo.  Nauvoo is a very small town that once held thousands of members of the LDS Church, until 1846, when they headed to Salt Lake City, Utah.  They left behind a gorgeous Temple, which was shortly thereafter destroyed.  It was rebuilt in 2000.  We had the opportunity to go through it, and of course take some pictures!  (You can see the full color version of this picture and the ferris wheel as well as a photoshopped version of the jelly bean on my Facebook page here.)

Close to Nauvoo is a town named Carthage.  Here, the first President of the LDS Church, Joseph Smith, was martyred.  This is a statue of  Joseph and his brother Hyrum, who was also killed.  I love the fall leaves in the background!

If you'd like to find out more about the LDS Church, go here.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures today!  I have a few Christmas pictures that I'm working on, and will have them up next week.
