Wicked Girl’s Vacation

My amazing hubby was so nice to get me a ticket to go see the Broadway musical “Wicked” for Mother’s Day.  It is in Boise right now, so my mother-in-law, my sister-in-law, my niece and I drove the 4 hours to get there.  We surely enjoyed the show!

We saw this building right by our hotel, and the fabulous bricks and colors were too fun to not get some pictures done with them in the background!  (Don’t you just love my hair on my SIL’s shoulder?  I had to use the timer on the camera and ran back…oh well…)

Of course, us older women, didn’t want the camera’s attention, so my niece got to get all the attention!  Isn’t she a doll?

This was my favorite picture, and I can’t decide which one I like better…hmmm…

home {details}

So, I’ve been having a blast playing around with my new camera.  The other day I thought it would be fun to go around my kitchen and capture the little details that I love most about it.

This one with the eggs is just a seasonal addition, but I like how it turned out!

This last one was from from my living room, but I love it!

I hope you loved taking a peek at some of my favorite home {details}!

I’m thinking it would be fun to start doing photo shoots of your home {details}…what do you think?

California Vacation!

So, last week we got to go to California on a family vacation.  I wish I could say that it was warm and sunny the whole time, but it wasn't.  Just 1 1/2 days of sunny warmth.  The other 3 1/2 days were cloudy, rainy and cool (though cool in CA is warm in UT).  We had a whirlwind of a week, and I thought I’d share some pictures!
We enjoyed an afternoon at the beach!  Too cold to swim, but we had fun in the sand and exploring tide pools!  (I actually took these beach photos with my little point and shoot camera.  I didn’t really want to get sand or water into my DSLR…)

This picture has two textures on it, one of them being a picture of veins of water in the sand!  Look carefully!

These next 4 are from Disneyland and California Adventure.

These last 4 are from the Los Angeles LDS Temple.

What a fun time enjoying the beauty of California.  (Not so much did we enjoy the traffic though…!)

Christmas Lights

Almost 2 weeks ago, our family went to Salt Lake for an evening to see the lights on Temple Square.  There are so many of them, it's just amazing to experience the wonder and magic of it all!
Just about every branch is wrapped in lights!
Merry Christmas to all!

Chicago and Nauvoo

I love doing portraits a lot, but honestly, I love taking pictures of other things just as much.  And since I'm not doing in sessions in December, I thought I'd share some of my other photography that I've recently done.
In October, my husband and I had a little get away from the kiddos.  We visited Chicago just for the heck of it.  (Plus we scored a great $99 deal on tickets!)  Above is a picture of the Ferris Wheel on the Navy Pier.  Yes, it is obviously photoshopped.  I love adding textures and playing with coloring on photos like this.  It's not as great on pictures of people, but for things and nature, textures are amazing!

Below is a statue in Chicago that looks like a jelly bean.  It's called "The Cloud" and offers a fun way to get a picture of Chicago's skyline!
This is the Buckingham Fountain at night.
Since we were in Illinois, we rented a car and drove down to Nauvoo.  Nauvoo is a very small town that once held thousands of members of the LDS Church, until 1846, when they headed to Salt Lake City, Utah.  They left behind a gorgeous Temple, which was shortly thereafter destroyed.  It was rebuilt in 2000.  We had the opportunity to go through it, and of course take some pictures!  (You can see the full color version of this picture and the ferris wheel as well as a photoshopped version of the jelly bean on my Facebook page here.)

Close to Nauvoo is a town named Carthage.  Here, the first President of the LDS Church, Joseph Smith, was martyred.  This is a statue of  Joseph and his brother Hyrum, who was also killed.  I love the fall leaves in the background!

If you'd like to find out more about the LDS Church, go here.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures today!  I have a few Christmas pictures that I'm working on, and will have them up next week.
